See below for a list of commonly asked questions.

What does a typical retreat day look like? 2016-10-31T16:36:31+00:00

Wake to an la carte breakfast of fresh fruit, juice, and a variety of delightful food options. A morning breakfast and conversation among the group to get the day started. We then make our way to the beach, steps away from the resort. When we arrive, our lead coach gives a brief rundown of the current conditions along with recommended surfing approaches for the day. Groups will be split up based on skill level and paired with the appropriate coach. Then it’s hands on coaching in the water to help execute the recommended surfing approach. This morning session lasts a few hours.

After the morning session out front of the resort, there will be a bit of free time to relax and freshen up right before lunch. Rooms, dining areas and beach access are a short walk from each other. After a refreshing lunch, we go straight to video review where we sit together and go over morning session footage of each guest. Coaches break down current technique, what you could do to improve, and what to focus on in the afternoon boat session.

Following video review is the afternoon boat session. These boats or ‘pangas’ are designed to help us find the best breaks in the wave-rich Punta Mita coastline. We choose the best waves and we surf for 2-3 hours. Coolers of snacks and drinks (including local beer ‘cervezas’) are on the boat as refreshments.

After surf, we head back to the resort for a bit of decompression time. You can spend this time in your room or at the Bali beds near the coastline. No meal is mandatory and that is the case for dinner. Given the multitude of restaurants on resort grounds, you are welcome to explore any option you desire. However, if you wish to stay in the group, we’ll be dining at the Royal Suites restaurant Gourmet (same as breakfast and lunch location). They offer a preset menu for the group and cuisines range from Italian to Mediterranean to delicious Mexican.

On some nights, dinners are followed with an evening function, be it a movie night, talk story or just a lounge hang out with the group.

Can anyone come on the retreat? 2017-06-13T13:27:15+00:00

Anyone at least 18 years of age that wants to learn how to stand up paddle (SUP) surf can attend our program. We welcome all levels of paddlers from beginner to expert. Regardless of what skill level you are, we will provide you with the necessary training to take you to the next level. Guests will receive personalized coaching and attention from World Champion Sean Poynter, guest athletes and the best local coaches.

Where do we surf? 2017-07-23T18:14:07+00:00

Great question. There are a couple of breaks directly outside of the resort, which we typically use for our morning sessions. However, we will always find the best waves available to us in order to create the best wave-riding experience. Here is a map of the breaks we will visit.

How many hours a day will we be surfing? 2016-10-31T14:31:06+00:00

This all depends on your level of ability and how quickly you progress in the program. Ultimately, it will be up to you, but in a typical day you will see between 4-6 hours of surfing.

Do I need to bring SUP equipment (board, paddle, leash, etc)? 2016-10-29T17:53:40+00:00

You can, and we do encourage you to bring equipment you’re comfortable with. However, we also have a great selection of boards and accessories for rent as an additional fee at time of booking.

Where is my equipment stored? 2016-10-29T17:57:07+00:00

Our guests typically store their equipment in their own rooms. However, if you prefer, locked storage is available on resort grounds upon request.

Is it required that we stick to the program? 2016-10-29T18:03:57+00:00

To maximize progression, we do recommend sticking to the program. However, we do understand that our program can be intense for some, so you are more than welcome to take time off and relax at your leisure.

Can I bring my significant other even though they don’t want to SUP? 2016-11-29T16:28:02+00:00

Yes, we welcome it. However, there is an additional all-inclusive resort fee for double occupancy and this should be decided at least 30 days prior to trip departure.

Do I get to keep my video footage? 2016-10-29T17:30:11+00:00

Video of your daily coaching sessions will be provided at the end of your retreat as a digital download. A personalized HD video of your retreat experience is optional for an additional fee at time of booking.
